This is a perfect example of where a LLM can be used. I need help from an animal expert, and who better to help than my new friend, ChatGPT?
I’m not an animal expert myself. Some animal names I only know in Danish or Swedish, others I can only describe (like "Ocean bird white and gray, screams a lot" - Well i knew seagull in this case), and don’t even get me started on Latin names... 😅
This recording was from a “mockup version” of Animal Detect, where I've been experimenting with different technologies, including the integration of large language models (LLMs). This video is from a rough test setup, far from the beautifully designed version that the team is working on and plans to bring to the world in early 2025.
With Animal Detect, we’re not trying to bind the platform to specific animals. Instead, we aim to allow users to create their own classes. For some users, "birds" are just birds. For others, every species of bird needs to be categorized individually. We believe that having an AI-powered "animal expert" to assist in identifying animals, including their common and Latin names, will make this process much smoother and more accessible.
PS. The animal expert LLM may not be a part of the first beta version of Animal Detect, we will see if its a needed feature once we release.
