I have been writing quite a lot about different cases of generative AI being used for wildlife conservation. Re-coloring of night images of images, generating different backgrounds and even generating training data with help of generative AI.
Today I am looking at how we can combine AI and wildlife education. AI becomes more and more an integrated part of our daily life, while I feel like we as humans are getting further and further away from the nature around us. When testing out the spirit animal generator Eugene Galaxy shared with the world yesterday, I had plenty of fun but also learned something about animals. Even if I work a lot with tech for animals, I am really not good with different animals and their names. As example, I thought the image of a โPrairie dogโ was a meerkat โ and that Prairie dog sounded more like a coyote to me โ I was wrong! Also, Heron, Gerbil and other names which I havenโt heard in English which I had to google and learn about the animal.
It would be nice to combine creative and fun tools like this with some fun information, like extracting information and maybe an actual image from Wikipedia, or some kind of animal atlas. Maybe having a LLM to use these information to make a short description with some fun fact would be goal?
You can test out the generator at https://deepfocused.me/ - which will be moved to Animal Detect website soon ๐
