In wildlife image processing, challenges like low light, overexposure, or lack of sharpness are common. But did you know that CLAHE (Contrast Limited Adaptive Histogram Equalization) can help tackle these issues?

In a recent post, I explored how moisture and water can blur wildlife images and mentioned that CLAHE has other powerful applications. Here’s a quick demonstration of how it can enhance visibility in dark or overexposed images. I encourage you to try it out for your own images, it’s simple, effective, and often transformative! 😊

At Animal Detect, we’re considering to use CLAHE to make it easier to visualize dark images.

For this demonstration, I used images from a dataset from LILA BC, which hosts diverse datasets for biology and conservation: https://lnkd.in/d9aEfBW5
